Below are details of walks planned for
The National Trust, Rye & Winchelsea Centre walking group.
You do not have to be a member to come and join us.
Winter walks programme for 2007-8.
We have had a very successful summer walking programme, in spite of the wet weather. The turnout has varied from less than a dozen to over twenty. We have walked and visited places or things of interest en route and of course enjoyed some delicious pub lunches.
So, why not try and join us for one of our winter walks? We are an ambling group, rather than a rambling group. We set out to explore and enjoy the wonderful country side that surrounds us, stopping to visit churches, castles, National Trust properties, nature reserves and etc. A typical half day walk would be 4 to 5 miles, 2 to 2.5 hours walking, with plenty of rest stops (to admire the view of course!).
With regards to dogs on walks, I personally prefer not to have dogs, as we are invariably walking through sheep and cattle pastures, also getting a muddy dog over a high style can be problematical. But I will leave the decision to each walks leader, so if you wish to bring your dog, please talk to the walk leader before arriving at the start point.
We walk on public rights of way, as shown on the OS maps, but these can be uneven and muddy, so stout shoes or boots are recommended and waterproof clothing as required.
